
ICF Engage, All-Volunteer Community – Community Moderator
Overview:
The community moderator role is crucial in maintaining the positive atmosphere of our community, ensuring that discussions remain respectful, informative, and aligned with our community guidelines. As a Community Moderator, you will have the opportunity to shape the environment of our community, engage with members, and contribute to the overall growth and direction of the All-Volunteer Community.
We will be selecting moderators for specific topically based communities, which will include:
· Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Belonging (DEIJB) in Coaching Education
· Directors of Education
· University Based Coaching Education programs
· AI and Technology in Coaching Education
Responsibilities:
- Monitor discussions and content shared within the community to ensure compliance with community guidelines and policies.
- Engage with the community by participating in discussions, providing support to members, and fostering a welcoming environment.
- Identify and escalate conflicts or disputes among members, ensuring that interactions remain respectful and constructive.
- Collaborate with other moderators and team members to develop strategies for community engagement, growth, and improvement.
- Provide feedback and insights to the community engagement manager on member concerns, potential issues, and the overall atmosphere of the community.
- Assist in organizing and moderating community events, AMAs (Ask Me Anything), and other special projects.
- Stay updated on best practices in community moderation and engagement, applying this knowledge to improve the community experience.
Skills and Abilities:
· Be familiar with Coaching and/or Volunteering within ICF.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate thoughts clearly and engage with a diverse group of individuals.
- Empathy and patience, with a genuine desire to help and support community members.
- Good judgment and the ability to handle disputes and sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy.
- Passionate about the community’s focus and committed to contributing positively to its growth and wellbeing.
· Willing to meet in or out of standard business hours where appropriate.
· Adherence to the ICF Code of Ethics.
· Possess a team-oriented mentality and be able to work well with others when applicable.
Time Commitment:
· The expected time commitment for this volunteer role is 2-4 hours per month. Responsibilities include monthly volunteer leader meetings, time monitoring and posting in the community, contributions to community content, and engagement on ICF Engage platform.
Term:
· ICF Coaching All-Volunteer Community Moderators will be selected for a one-year term.
Selection Process:
· Individuals interested in serving as a Community Moderator should complete the online application. ICF Volunteer Engagement staff will review applications and select candidates for an interview. Candidates will be selected and notified by ICF Volunteer Engagement staff if they have been selected for a role.
